Special T Thoroughbreds breaks and trains young and lay-up horses at Galway Downs. Conveniently located just across the street from Special T, Galway Downs has large, airy stalls and a full one-mile racetrack that is maintained daily. The importance of a good foundation is the emphasis at Special T. Their professional horsemen put the horses through the needed ground work and track work to become successful athletes at the races. Some of the horses that have gone through Rick Taylor's program, which he developed while managing Golden Eagle Farm, are the Mabee-owned General Challenge, Excellent Meeting and Event of the Year.

 Boarding...
Clean air, clean water and quality hay and grain are key in the care of horses at Special T. The grain is mixed fresh and delivered twice weekly to assure top quality. The grain is specially formulated for the particular needs of the young and in training horse. Large clean stalls and spacious outdoor pens help keep the horse population happy and healthy. Broodmares, weanling and yearlings are boarded at the farm. Special care is given to lay-ups that require individual treatments necessary to get the horse back to the racetrack.

 Sales...
Sales are an important part of the services offered. Special T consigns to all major Southern California sales in particular, the Del Mar Yearling Sale as well as most all the Barretts Sales in Pomona, California. Special T will handle all facets of the sale from nominating the horse through Sales Prep. Rick Taylor is always available to help you in the purchase of your next Thoroughbred as well. He attends most of the California and Kentucky sales and is very capable of picking the horse best suited to your budget.
